The challenge – Being an Amazon seller

Provide a superb customer experience for online-shoppers on Amazon.de, who want to protect their smartphones with fancy cases.

The process – learning by doing

During my time at iProtect, which I had founded with a friend of mine, I had learned a lot about the potential of selling phone cases online. After a little break from the online retail business, I decided it was time for me to start the journey again, but this time on my own

Throughout my previous experience I had already found some useful solutions for the supply chain management. These were for example convenient packaging for the cases, meaningful warehousing and fast process for the retour management. On top there were now purchasing, sales and accounting to be taken care of. Also I wanted to grant a fast, friendly and reliable customer service along the whole customer journey, especially as I knew that this was crucial for the product ranking on Amazon. A continuous improvement process helped me reduce time an effort wherever possible.

With this aspiration, Berlin Cases worked well with on average 70 orders a day, an excellent customer satisfaction rate and a revenue that paid my studies. Nevertheless it cost me a lot of time and effort and studies were coming short, so when I changed my subject to Computer Science and Business Administration and had started my new job at Cookies, I decided to focus totally on that. Therefore the company was sold in December 2017.

My responsibilities

Well. Everything. ;)

My highlights – Confidence and self-motivation

To be honest, it was a hell of a ride. Even if it all looks quite logic now, most solutions were found by try and error and some challenges almost robbed my last nerve. Starting a business on my own had cost me a lot of courage, but the knowledge I gained and the strengthened endurance I got out of it were totally worth it.
